The Walter Clyburn Taylor Papers consists of papers relating to textiles and their manufacture. These papers represent Taylor's work for both his sophomore course on carding and spinning and for courses taken during his junior year at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University). Included are handwritten and typewritten essays on a variety of subjects. Also present are tables of mechanical settings and several technical drawings for machinery, as well as articles clipped from technical journals and affixed onto pages of the notebook. All the materials in the notebook date from between 1911 and 1912.

Born in 1889, Walter Clyburn Taylor attended the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts and graduated in 1913 with a degree in Textile Engineering. He served in the military during World War I and was stationed in Europe for more than a year during the hostilities. After the war, he returned to North Carolina and worked in the textile industry. Hugh Williams Primrose was one of six sons born to William Stuart Primrose and Ella Williams Primrose. He was born January 21, 1878 and died January 27, 1904.
